Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin

Does Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin contain all of your necessary vitamins and minerals?

Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin does a pretty good job of offering you ingredients that you need during pregnancy. Each dose contains appropriate amounts of vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, iron, and zinc. Belly Bar’s website states that the vitamin is gluten-free and contains “no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives”. While these are all beneficial things in a prenatal vitamin, one thing to look out for if you decide to take Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin is to take an additional calcium supplement since the vitamin only has 200mcg of calcium (you should aim for at least 750mcg). Click here for more information about the importance of getting enough calcium and vitamin D3. Belly Bar’s prenatal vitamin also comes in a little short on its vitamin A, so you should make sure to make up the deficit either in your diet or in another vitamin. In short, Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin definitely covers your basic vitamin and mineral needs, although it comes in a little short in terms of higher-end ingredients.

Does Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin use the safest ingredients?

As mentioned above, this prenatal vitamin contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and is gluten-free. The nutrients it contains are all safe to take during pregnancy. It bears mentioning that since the vitamin is chewable it contains sucrose (to make it taste sweet), as well as stearic acid, dried vegetable and fruit juices as natural coloring, orange and cherry flavors and magnesium stearate. None of these should cause any seriously harmful effects to you or your baby, but, as always, consult with your doctor before beginning to take any prenatal vitamin.

Does Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin contain high-end ingredients?

Unfortunately, Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin falls a little short in this area. Although it contains the recommended dosage of vitamin B6, it contains no DHA, probiotics, CoQ10, ginger, vitamin D-3, choline, or inositol. That being said, Belly Bar recommends an entire line of prenatal products. Although the chewable vitamins contain none of these ingredients, their “Bellybar Boost” contains 55 mg of choline, and their “Bellybar Chews” and “Bellybar Shakes” do contain DHA. Most of their products also contain calcium, making it easier to get the calcium you need, but only if you purchase their full line of products.

Final words?

Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin’s most obvious claim to fame is its chewable nature. If you have trouble swallowing pills, then this could be a viable option as a prenatal vitamin. However, the vitamin is lacking in several key ingredients. To really give yourself the full nutritional benefit of Belly Bar you have to buy multiple products – not just the prenatal vitamin. This is fine if you are willing to spend the money on multiple products, if you love the taste of Belly Bar products, and if you can get enough probiotics, CoQ10, and inositol from other sources. That’s a lot of “ifs” for me, but of course the choice is up to you. Personally I prefer a more “all-inclusive” prenatal vitamin, but at $10-$15 a bottle, Belly Bar Chewable Prenatal Vitamin may be worth a shot for you – especially if you have trouble swallowing pills.

Best Prenatal Vitamin

After doing some research and taking as many as 6 different types of prenatal vitamins, I found a prenatal vitamin that works well for me, its called Prenatalgyn. Prenatalgyn contains all the essential ingredients, that recent research has found to be supportive for a healthy pregnancy. On top of all this many professionals and consumers have written and stated great things about this product.

Prenatalgyn Prenatal Vitamin is simply amazing. It only took a few days of taking Prenatalgyn and I could feel a noticeable difference. I suffer from extreme morning sickness (Hyperemesis gravidarum) and the ginger in Prenatalgyn significantly improved my morning sickness, this was a huge blessing (if you've ever had morning sickness you know what I mean!). I was able to swallow the capsules easily. I also seemed to have a better appetite, and it included all of the most important ingredients at the right amounts. Prenatalgyn does not contain any artificial colors, preservatives, or hydrogenated oils which are not good to have. I would highly recommend Prenatalgyn if you're pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
