Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA

Does Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA contain all of your necessary vitamins and minerals?
No, but neither does it pretend to. Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA is not a prenatal multivitamin. Rather, it “supports DHA maintenance during pregnancy and lactation” and is meant to supplement a diet that is already getting the necessary vitamins and minerals included in a normal prenatal vitamin. That being said, this product does supply 450 mg of DHA, an integral part of a healthy pregnancy. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid and helps your baby’s eyes and brain develop efficiently.
Does Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA use the safest ingredients?
This product does not contain any gluten, milk derivatives, artificial colors or flavors. It does contain vitamin D3, vitamin E, Omega-3’s, oleic acid, purified deep sea fish oil, a soft gel capsule (made of gelatin, water, and glycerin), d-alpha tocopherol, and rosemary extract. These ingredients should not pose any threats to your health, although you should follow the instructions on the bottle and discuss taking this supplement with your doctor.
Does Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA contain high-end ingredients?
Yes, this supplement does offer an impressive amount of DHA, definitely something that pregnant woman should be taking. However, as mentioned above, this is not an all in one prenatal vitamin. There are many other important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that pregnant and lactating women should take.
Final Thoughts
Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA is a bit unique in its focused approach in providing DHA. Basically, this product does exactly what it says it will do – provide pregnant and nursing mothers with DHA. If you are already taking a prenatal vitamin that does not contain DHA, then this could be a useful product for you. Personally, however, I would rather recommend a prenatal vitamin that already has DHA in it. When I was pregnant, I really struggled with swallowing pills, and I don’t think I could have faced adding an additional supplement to my prenatal vitamin. If you decide to take Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA, you will be adding two more pills per day to your vitamin regimen.
In general, I’m having trouble putting a final word on this product. Personally, I probably would not buy it, but if you are not getting enough DHA in your diet and in your prenatal vitamin, than it could certainly be a viable option for you, especially if you don’t have a problem swallowing multiple pills a day. If you’d rather look for a prenatal vitamin that is more all-inclusive however, I recommend taking a look at our top-rated prenatal vitamin that lists DHA as one of its ingredients.
Best Prenatal Vitamin
After doing some research and taking as many as 6 different types of prenatal vitamins, I found a prenatal vitamin that works well for me, its called Trimedisyn. Trymedisyn contains all the essential ingredients, that recent research has found to be supportive for a healthy pregnancy. On top of all this many professionals and consumers have written and stated great things about this product.
Trimedisyn Prenatal Vitamin is simply amazing. It only took a few days of taking Trimedisyn and I could feel a noticeable difference. I suffer from extreme morning sickness (Hyperemesis gravidarum) and the ginger in Trimedisyn significantly improved my morning sickness, this was a huge blessing (if you've ever had morning sickness you know what I mean!). I was able to swallow the capsules easily. I also seemed to have a better appetite, and it included all of the most important ingredients at the right amounts. Trimedisyn does not contain any artificial colors, preservatives, or hydrogenated oils which are not good to have. I would highly recommend Trimedisyn if you're pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
