Now Foods Prenatal Vitamin Caps

Do Now Foods Prenatal Vitamin Caps contain all of your necessary vitamins and minerals?

This product has a pretty heavy hitting list of ingredients, and proportionally, it doesn’t do too badly with its quantities of each. In terms of some of the most important ingredients, i.e. folic acid, iron, and calcium, Now Foods offers you 800mcg of folic acid, 36mg of iron, and 1,200mg of calcium. In general, this puts Now Foods on a much higher footing than many other prenatal vitamins that only supply a fraction of these numbers. Let’s take a look at the other ingredients though. Normally, I look for prenatal vitamins that include CoQ10, probiotics, choline, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin A, and inositol. Here, Now Foods does pretty well, although we’ll see a few chinks in the armor. With 20mg of choline, 5mg of vitamin B6, 20mcg of vitamin B12, and 10,000iu of vitamin A, this prenatal vitamin is still sitting pretty. Despite these advantages, Now Foods Prenatal Vitamin Caps do not contain CoQ10, probiotics, DHA, or inositol.

Do Now Foods Prenatal Vitamin Caps use the safest ingredients?

This prenatal vitamin does not contain yeast, wheat, gluten, milk, egg, sugar, salt, or preservatives. The vitamin caps(ules) are made with gelatin, cellulose, magnesium stearate. These prenatal vitamins should not cause any harm to anyone taking them as instructed, although it is up to your good judgement and that of your doctor to decide whether or not this product is right for you.

Do Now Foods Prenatal Vitamin Caps contain high-end ingredients?

Although this product does an admirable job of providing high amounts of folic acid, iron, calcium, and choline, I would have liked to see an inclusion of probiotics, DHA, CoQ10, inositol, and ginger.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, this product holds a surprisingly good list of ingredients and not too high of a price tag. I’m especially impressed with how much calcium is included in each dose, since many prenatal vitamins really skimp on their quantities. That being said, its exclusion of probiotics, DHA, CoQ10, and ginger makes me hesitate to recommend it. Furthermore, a single day’s dose is four capsules. During pregnancy, having to remember to take four pills a day just turns into a chore, and swallowing any pills (much less four) makes me nauseous just to think about. Overall, it’s not a bad product, but if you want to keep shopping, I can recommend some of our more high rated prenatal vitamins.

Best Prenatal Vitamin

After doing some research and taking as many as 6 different types of prenatal vitamins, I found a prenatal vitamin that works well for me, its called Prenatalgyn. Prenatalgyn contains all the essential ingredients, that recent research has found to be supportive for a healthy pregnancy. On top of all this many professionals and consumers have written and stated great things about this product.

Prenatalgyn Prenatal Vitamin is simply amazing. It only took a few days of taking Prenatalgyn and I could feel a noticeable difference. I suffer from extreme morning sickness (Hyperemesis gravidarum) and the ginger in Prenatalgyn significantly improved my morning sickness, this was a huge blessing (if you've ever had morning sickness you know what I mean!). I was able to swallow the capsules easily. I also seemed to have a better appetite, and it included all of the most important ingredients at the right amounts. Prenatalgyn does not contain any artificial colors, preservatives, or hydrogenated oils which are not good to have. I would highly recommend Prenatalgyn if you're pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
