Does VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin contain all of your necessary vitamins and minerals?
Whether you only have 3 months left until you go into labor or you haven’t conceived yet, now is the time to start taking a prenatal vitamin you can count on. Some of the most important ingredients in a prenatal vitamin are found within the vitamins and minerals category. With VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin, you get 18 vitamins and minerals, but some were obviously given less priority than others.
For no apparent reason, Vitamin A is missing from VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin. While taking Vitamin A in supplement form may cause toxicity issues, there is no reason to completely leave it out of a prenatal vitamin. This vitamin is very helpful for your child’s developing immune system.
Just like most prenatal vitamins, VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin is much too low on the calcium side. I don’t understand why there can’t be more calcium than 15% of the recommended daily value. I’ve seen plenty of prenatal vitamins with more calcium than that, especially Trimedisyn. This important mineral should not be shunned so much.
Does VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin use the safest ingredients?
Ingredients in VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin are likely safe. With the Vegan and Kosher certification, there has to be a reason behind that. Also, even if the ingredients are safe, you cannot be sure that it is the safest prenatal vitamin for your pregnancy. If VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin has left out certain ingredients that could lead to a safer pregnancy (like Vitamin A), then I would consider it a less safe prenatal vitamin.
Does VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin contain high-end ingredients?
Things are looking pretty grim for VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin. Out of the possible nine high-end ingredients that a prenatal vitamin could include, VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin only contains one of those. Most likely because of the Vegan certification, VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin gives you Vitamin D2 instead of Vitamin D3. Although there might not be a major difference between the two, we are specifically looking for Vitamin D3 when it comes to a high-end ingredient.
The one high-end ingredient that VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin actually has is Vitamin B6. The good news is that while you need about 25 mg in your diet daily, VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin gives you just that. The bad news is that the label wants you to believe you are getting much more than 100%…at least ten times that. The truth is Vitamin B6 is overall important for three main reasons:
- Reduces chances of miscarriages
- Aids with conception
- Can help nausea subside
After evaluating VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin, I believe it is NOT the right prenatal vitamin for any pregnant woman because:
- There is no Vitamin A
- The Calcium content is weak
- Only one high-end ingredient is in the formula
The only two things that might be positive for VitaMed MD Complete Prenatal Multivitamin is that the tablets are small, so they must be easy to swallow, and it is fairly inexpensive to purchase one bottle (only $13.99).
Best Prenatal VitaminAfter doing some research and taking as many as 6 different types of prenatal vitamins, I found a prenatal vitamin that works well for me, its called Prenatalgyn. Prenatalgyn contains all the essential ingredients, that recent research has found to be supportive for a healthy pregnancy. On top of all this many professionals and consumers have written and stated great things about this product.
Prenatalgyn Prenatal Vitamin is simply amazing. It only took a few days of taking Prenatalgyn and I could feel a noticeable difference. I suffer from extreme morning sickness (Hyperemesis gravidarum) and the ginger in Prenatalgyn significantly improved my morning sickness, this was a huge blessing (if you've ever had morning sickness you know what I mean!). I was able to swallow the capsules easily. I also seemed to have a better appetite, and it included all of the most important ingredients at the right amounts. Prenatalgyn does not contain any artificial colors, preservatives, or hydrogenated oils which are not good to have. I would highly recommend Prenatalgyn if you're pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
